Meet Dr. Jung (June) H. Hyun

Born and raised in South Korea,. Dr. June Hyun is an associate professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at St. Bonaventure University. She gained her B.A. in English Education from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea and M.S in School Counseling from California State University, Bakersfield. She received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education with a cognate in children and family from Georgia State University in 2009.

My professional journey includes roles as a counselor, counselor educator, and program leader across Georgia, Washington, and Florida. With a career spanning 17 years in both school counseling and mental health counseling preparation programs, I bring a depth of knowledge and practical experience to your institution. My previous positions include serving as a program chair for over five years, a clinical director, and a frequent member of dissertation committees. Additionally, I was involved in the team to go through CACREP accreditation twice. Furthermore, I have extensive experience in play therapy for elementary students and have conducted numerous parenting workshops.
